Motor Vehicle
Titling and Registration of passenger vehicles, trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, salvage and tow vehicles.
Titling Out of State Vehicles
All out of state vehicles and trailers must be physically inspected by a Colorado Law Enforcement Officer. We have a VIN Inspector in the Court House, however if he is unavailable you can check with other Law Enforcement Agencies.
- Please bring proof of insurance for each vehicle being registered.
- When selling a vehicle, title must be signed off exactly as it appears on the front of the title.
- If a vehicle is in a trust, or being put in a trust, we need a copy of the trust papers.
- Titles are $7.20 to transfer plus sales tax if applicable.
- State Sales Tax 2.9%
- City Sales Tax 4.0%
- Aguilar City Sales Tax 3.0%
- Duplicate Title $8.20
- We do have a notary available.
- We do accept credit cards, Master Card, Visa, Discover and Amex, cash or check. There will be a charge of 2.7% vendor fee to use a credit card.
- We do charge $20.00 for a short check.
- Boats and ATVs are registered with the parks department.
RECORDING
Recording of Warranty Deeds, Deeds of Trust, Quit Claim Deeds, and maps, etc.
- Recording fees for documents is $11.00 for the first page and $5.00 for each additional page per document. Documentary fees are .10 per thousand dollars of the sale price.
- Copies of Documents are $1.25 per page for legal size and .25 for letter size.
- Certification of Documents is $1.00 per document.
VOTER REGISTRATION
New or changes to voter registration must be done in person or by the drivers license office. Also, you may go online to GoVoteColorado.com to make changes. You may request a mail-in postcard from the clerk's office as well.
MARRIAGE LICENSE
Marriage Licenses are $30.00. We need identification such as a drivers license, birth certificate, etc. The Marriage License is good for 30 days. Both parties need to be present to sign the application. There is an affidavit available for the person that cannot come in to sign the marriage application.
- Under 18 years old, need parent consent
- Under 16 years old, need court order
- Colorado is a self affirmation state. (You can marry yourselves.)
